ALCO Precision 168gr .308 Bullet
The 308 168 grain bullet has long been considered one of the most versatile and proven weights in the 30 caliber world. Alco Precision elevates that standard. Engineered for balanced velocity, stability, and downrange authority, the Alco 168gr .308 bullet delivers the consistency serious shooters demand — whether on steel, paper, or in the field. With a high ballistic coefficient and optimized Ultra-Low Drag (ULD) profile, this projectile provides:
- Reliable wind resistance
• Stable flight characteristics
• Strong velocity retention
• Consistent long-range grouping
NOTE: The buck photo above was sent in from Keith L., a North Carolina customer, who took this deer in Canada with an Alco .308 precision bullet. He said, “Performance is superior in these bullets. 300 Western Short Magnum is my caliber, and this buck was 250 lbs. Last year’s buck was over 300 lbs. Both bucks never moved out of their footsteps besides straight down. Good solid ethical harvest on both. Thanks, Alco, for making such a good product!!!” – We appreciate his kind words and take pride in providing the best hunting precision bullets in the marketplace.
Platform Compatibility
Alco’s bullets are optimized for common twist systems. From factory rifles to custom precision builds, this weight is known for predictable tuning and dependable performance across a wide range of rifle systems.
This is a precision projectile. Not loaded ammunition. Not a solid core projectile.
Ultra-Low Drag (ULD) + High BC Design
The Alco 168gr features an advanced ULD profile engineered to minimize drag and maintain stability at extended distance.
- Streamlined ogive geometry enhances aerodynamic efficiency
• High BC improves wind resistance and energy retention
• Optimized rear profile reduces turbulence and preserves velocity
The result is measurable consistency when distance and wind begin to matter.
Rebated Boat Tail (RBT) Precision
Every Alco .308 bullet incorporates a Rebated Boat Tail (RBT) design.
The stepped rebate geometry:
- Enhances aerodynamic efficiency
• Reduces rear drag
• Promotes smoother rifling engagement
• Contributes to repeatable shot-to-shot consistency
The RBT exists because marginal gains are not optional. When precision matters, small advantages compound downrange.
Built to Compete. Proven to Hunt.
Accuracy without terminal authority is incomplete. Its precision weight consistency and high-BC stability support match-grade accuracy, while the mass and controlled impact characteristics provide dependable knockdown authority in the field.
This is not a hunting bullet adapted for matches — or a match bullet pressed into field use.
It is a performance-driven projectile designed to excel in both roles.
The 168gr projectile is constructed with a precision-machined CNC metal tip, a concentric copper jacket, and a 100% soft swaged lead core — engineered for controlled expansion and decisive energy transfer.
On impact:
- The CNC tip initiates expansion
• The projectile transitions into an open frontal cavity
• The copper jacket manages expansion geometry
• The soft lead core drives controlled energy release with meaningful penetration
This design balances aerodynamic precision with dependable terminal effectiveness.
Handcrafted Consistency
Alco bullets are produced in small batches — not mass production runs.
Each 168gr projectile is:
- Weight-verified
• Individually inspected
• Manufactured to exacting tolerance standards
That consistency simplifies load development and builds confidence behind every trigger press.
Packaged in protective 50-count boxes.
Built to Elevate Your Rifle
Every rifle has potential. The difference is in the projectile. No matter the platform, Alco bullets are engineered to unlock greater accuracy, tighter consistency, and measurable performance gains from the rifle you already trust.
Important Notes
- Use a VLD chamfering tool
• Use quality seating dies with a ULD seating stem
• Do Not Tumble
• Follow published load data for similarly weighted projectiles
• Alco does not provide specific load data

TEKILLYA –
These rounds have been used in standard M110 rifles testing accuracy in a variety of conditions from elevations, temperatures and humidity. As heavies, we depend on consistent performance and these rounds have delivered replacing the issued ones when allowed. Anyone here looking for this type of round should not need a lesson on brass prep, round to round matching and build-up for your rifle system. For a 1/10 twist rate, avg mv ranged from 2625-2640 delivering impressive sub 3 inch groups from 800m-1000m using varget powder. Terminal velocity and impact energy was a priority which proved to be roughly 9%-14% greater than the issued rounds using radar and impact energy plates. This was true for the rounds when they had aluminum tips and will test these with the metal tips when we return. Folks, moral of the story is if you need to hit a hog once, hit it once and hard not to harm the bacon!
