A bullet or precision airgun slug that varies slightly in weight, diameter, nose profile, jacket concentricity, or tip alignment can leave the barrel differently than the one before it. Those tiny differences may seem insignificant, but they become increasingly noticeable as distance grows.

Long-range shooters understand that even the smallest variation becomes magnified over distance.

A projectile that leaves the muzzle with slightly different balance or aerodynamic characteristics may experience more drag, less stability, or greater wind sensitivity. At 100 yards these differences may be difficult to detect. At several hundred yards—or farther—they become much easier to see on target.

The same principle applies to big bore PCP air rifles.

Modern airgun slugs are capable of remarkable accuracy, but they rely on consistent projectiles to achieve that potential. Every airgun bullet must not only fit the bore correctly but also maintain uniform dimensions from one projectile to the next.

At ALCO, our lead cores are swaged, not cast.

Casting molten lead into a mold is an effective manufacturing method for many applications, but the cooling process can introduce small variations in density, fill-out, or weight from one projectile to the next.

Swaging is different.

A precisely measured lead core is formed under tremendous pressure in hardened precision dies. Instead of relying on molten lead filling a cavity, the swaging process reshapes solid lead into an exact, repeatable form. The result is excellent weight consistency, uniform density, and a core that begins every manufacturing step with the same foundation.
